Associate Degree: Computer & Appliance Repair Degree and Programs

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer and appliance repair work is going to grow more slowly than the national average for all occupations, and opportunities will be best for those with formal career training. Employers often expect you to have a certain base level of knowledge on your first day. Associate degrees from traditional or online education programs provide training in equipment repair, electronics, technology, and service procedures. Aside from earning an associate degree, you can also receive college-level training through vocational education, the military, or an equipment manufacturer. Or you can use the convenience of online education to earn a degree from home while getting hands-on experience through a full-time job. There are two types of computer and appliance repair jobs: field technicians travel to households or businesses to do repairs on those premises, while bench technicians work in a repair shop at a store, factory, or service center.
