- Home Study. For a small investment, you can purchase a home study course. These self-paced courses are much more affordable than a full university degree program. Depending on the provider you choose, you may use an interactive Web site, software, DVDs, CD-ROMs, or workbooks. If you're interested in acquiring language skills and don't need a credential, then a home study course may be the way to go.
- Financial Aid. Some institutions offer financial aid to students. Many programs are restricted to U.S. citizens (e.g., loans funded through the U.S. government), but some financial aid options are available to international students as well. You may also try an online search for lenders who offer financial aid to international students.
- Employer Funding. If English skills are important for your job, your employer may fund an ESL program.
