Preparing for Nursing School
Ask Your Question
Question
What high school classes should I take if I am planning to go to nursing school?
Answer
It's a great idea to begin preparing for nursing school while you're in high school. Doing so not only prepares you academically, but also reveals enthusiasm and commitment to future. In addition to your core curriculum classes, take any classes you can in health, biological sciences, and psychology. Some schools offer pre-nursing classes to high school students. Ask your guidance counselor what classes in these areas are available at your school.
If there are classes you would like to take that aren't available at your school, inquire about your community's adult education or continuing education classes. Often these classes meet in the evenings and offer diverse classes beyond the high school level. If your school or community does not offer any classes you would like to take, or you'd prefer to study at home, look into online classes.
You should be able to find online high school classes that can prepare you for nursing school. You might even be able to take classes now that you can apply to a nursing certificate, decreasing the number of classes you need to take once you officially begin nursing school. Good luck!
