Career Training for Mechanical Engineers

Mechanical engineering degrees cover mathematics, science, and advanced design technology such as 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD). Specific courses might include electrical engineering, thermodynamics, organic chemistry, or fluid dynamics. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, most mechanical engineers obtain bachelor's degrees before finding entry-level work. After graduation, engineers can become certified Professional Engineers by passing examinations and working for several years as an Engineering Intern (EI) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT).
