Education Programs at Graduate Schools

Home > Graduate Programs > Graduate Degree in Education
Graduate programs in education allow individuals interested in a career in education the opportunity to specialize in certain areas of the field and to increase their ability to advance within the profession. Graduate schools offer master's degrees in education with specializations in areas such as administration, adult education, special education, and technology. Doctoral degrees in education are also available at many graduate schools. Students pursuing doctoral degrees through a graduate program often specialize in research and theory relating to a specific area of education such as elementary and secondary education, adult education, special education, or higher education.

A graduate degree in education also provides a path into education administration that may be limited for those without graduate training. Many school principles and school district administrators have at least a master's degree and often a doctorate in education. Often school districts prefer that their educators working in the fields of special education and technology attend graduate school and earn a master's degree in those specialties.
