Question:
I am 25 years old and I have been married for 10 years now.  I stopped school after 10th grade and currently have 3 children.  They are 4,7, and 10 months old.  I know it’s kind of silly, but I have been searching lately about how to earn a GED and where to find a good, cheap university to become a teacher.  I have always dreamed of teaching in a school.  I currently work and home school as well.  Sometimes I think that I am doing too much to put college in the middle, and other times I wonder if I can handle it.  Thoughts?

Answer:
I think it is amazing that you aspire to further your education as you raise your family.  Amazing and absolutely possible.  With all the distance learning options in today’s world, it is easier than ever to attend school and work around all of the current routines you have in place.  Read the recommended guidelines below to help you advance your education and make your dream of becoming a teacher a reality.

Decide which is right for you, a GED or high school diploma online. What is the difference?  A GED is a test that is taken at an official testing center through your state’s departments of education.  Your second option is a high school diploma online.  Upon completion of this program, you not only earn a high school diploma, but the program also gets you ready for a future college career.

Enroll in a bachelor’s degree program in education. Taking into account the information you have given me, I recommend looking into  online universities.  Through these your entire program can be done online from your home computer.  You can work around your children’s needs and once they are off to bed or nap, you can “go to class” while sitting at your home computer.

Remember your goal to keep you encouraged along the way. Take time to celebrate accomplishments everyday,  no matter how small.  Remember that in the end all your hard work will pay off for you and your family.  You can do it!
