When you begin nursing school, do you end up getting sick a lot because of the patients?

Answer:
This is an interesting question.

Often, nursing students will say that they seem to feel like they have the symptoms of whatever disease they are studying at the moment. That’s not just for nursing students though, medical students have also complained about this very issue. Of course, that’s not the same thing as really becoming ill.

While it’s true that nurses are exposed to illnesses, many of them contagious, nursing students and nurses don’t have a particularly high chance of becoming ill if they maintain proper hygiene. This means: wash your hand, was your hands, and wash your hands. This can’t be emphasized enough. Washing your hands is the number one way to reduce the risk of both contracting illnesses and passing them on.
