Certificate in Health Care Administration
Health care administrators plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise the delivery of health care. Specialists in the field manage clinical departments while generalists are responsible for operating entire facilities or systems. Because health care is a rapidly changing arena, health care administrators must be prepared to evaluate and launch new delivery systems as well as technological innovations, and complex ever-changing regulations. An ongoing focus on improving efficiencies in health care facilities and the delivery of care make this a challenging and exciting career field.
Carrington’s Health Care Administration certificate and degree programs prepare students for entry-level employment in a medical or dental office, or other health-related professional office setting. The program focuses on the practice of various medical office skills and equips students with the skills and knowledge required to adhere to the legal, ethical and regulatory standards of medical records management. In addition, medical terminology, introduction to anatomy, pharmacology, professional development, and the measuring of vital signs are covered. Field experience during the externship is an important part of the program. The program culminates in a Certificate of Achievement or an Associate of Science degree in Health Care Administration.
