Tennessee has an interstate reciprocity agreement that covers all states, so out-of-state teachers can apply for certification with proof of their credentials.

Once certified, graduates of teaching programs in Tennessee can look forward to positive job outlook, with experts projecting an average of 2,790 job openings a year through 2016. The National Education Association reports that teachers in Tennessee earned an average salary of $45,549 for the 2008-2009 school year.
