According to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Texas surged to almost 26.9 million people in 2014. Meanwhile, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that more than 10.9 million Texas residents were employed in 2013, earning a mean annual wage of $44,400. The sheer number of people living and working in the state means ample opportunity for workers in nearly every profession. One standout career and degree option in Texas is project management. The BLS reports 484,680 individuals were working in management in the state of Texas in 2013.

Because of the wide array of jobs that a degree in project management could lead to, many students are lining up to earn this degree, both on-campus and online. Texas project management schools are preparing students with the tools required for this career - organizational skills, management skills, and leadership qualities to name a few.

Project Management Degree Programs in Texas

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) lists 12 schools in Texas where students can pursue a degree in project management, some of which may offer online courses.

According to the BLS, most careers that require project management degrees prefer to hire candidates with a bachelor's degree. That isn't always the case, however. Administrative services managers, for example, may not need a bachelor's if they have enough related management experience. Still, a bachelor's degree in project management can improve one's job prospects and lead to higher pay, reports the BLS. The following table includes the project management schools in TX that awarded the most bachelor's degrees in project management during the 2012-2013 school year:

School Location Number of Bachelor's Degrees Awarded in 2012-2013
ITT Technical Institute-Houston West Houston 6
ITT Technical Institute-San Antonio San Antonio 5
ITT Technical Institute-Arlington Arlington 4
ITT Technical Institute-Richardson Richardson 2
ITT Technical Institute-Webster Webster 1
